01 Alphabet as Infrastructure

In this class, our group designed a new alphabet for restaurants, hoping to help people understand the menu. In daily life, when we walk into unfamiliar restaurants, such as Italian restaurants, it is hard to understand the menu, and we can’t even order what we want to eat. To help people order food, we would like to design an alphabet that can be understood by all language users. In this alphabet, emoji characters representing the flavour and texture of food are elements of this alphabet. The colour of the emoji represents the flavour, and the expression of the emoji character represents the texture. Therefore, customers can order food by selecting the emoji expression they need.
